Message from the Headmaster
Welcome back to another exciting term at Wollondilly Anglican College. There is a lot happening this term and a lot to be thankful for. Our outgoing Year 12 students began their HSC formal exams this week. They have been working hard all year and during the holidays and now have the opportunity to show what they have learned in these final exams. We have been meeting with them and they appear to be very settled, calm and prepared. We continue to pray for them as they complete exams over the next few weeks.
Our College Musical "Shrek" has begun and the students who are performing are doing a great job. We know they are also well supported by a very capable tech crew behind the scenes; well done to these students also. And of course, our wonderful staff have made this all possible through many hours and days of organisation, rehearsal and planning. Thank you to all staff who have been helping and a particular thank you to our Performing Arts team of Sarah Talbot, Lloyd Grant, Kara Valente, Sallyanne Barker and Chris Law. Finally, the set looks fantastic. Our Visual Arts team, with support from some very capable students, who have created an amazing atmosphere on stage. Well done to all, Shrek is a fantastic production.I am so thankful to be a part of this amazing College.
I am thankful to our staff, our students and our families for positively contributing to our College in many ways, making Wollondilly the wonderful place that it is. I am especially thankful to God who continues to bless us, now and into the future.
"Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy." -Jacques Maritain

Supporting Student Reception
The Student Reception team does an amazing job throughout the day and at times can be short staffed. We have noticed an increase in calls asking for students to leave class early to be collected at the office just prior to the end of the day. We understand that at times an early pickup may be necessary to attend an appointment, however this should be the exception rather than the norm.
Please also remember that students should not have their phones on during the College day and therefore parents shouldn’t be trying to make contact through this means.
RAHT Kits and COVID Isolation
The College still has a large number of RAHT Kits. If you have used your allocation, there is an opportunity to restock by dropping into Student Reception at any time between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Symptomatic testing is a very important method of early detection of COVID-19 and plays a critical part in limiting community spread. There are changes in the Public Health Order relating to COVID isolation and mandatory reporting. These come into effect on Friday, 14 October. As soon as the Association of Independent Schools communicates the implications of these to schools we will pass this onto the Wollondilly community.
HSC Examinations - All the Best Year 12
Year 12 Examinations commenced this Wednesday and will run until Friday, 4 November. The majority of these exams will occur in the Warne Auditorium. Please ensure you avoid this area throughout the exam period to assist in limiting the noise for our students. We wish Year 12 all the best and continue to pray for them as they complete these examinations.

Deputy Headmaster
Secondary News
Year 12 2022
Our Year 12 students of 2022, started their HSC exams this week. We know that they have been working hard and are well prepared for these exams. We wish them all the very best as they sit these over the next four weeks at the College. Please be praying for these students as they sit their exams.
Year 12 2022/23
As our Year 11 students move into the final stages of their curriculum pathways, we have lots of information to give them as they begin their Year 12 journey. A Year 12 Information Evening will be held for all students and their parents here at the College on Monday, 17 October at 7.00 pm in Deakin. Topics discussed included moderation of marks, ATAR, scaling, illness and misadventure procedures, supporting your child through the HSC, special provisions and much more. We look forward to seeing you and your child. Students are reminded to be in College uniform during attendance.
Singapore – Expressions of Interest
Reminder that expressions of interest for the Singapore trip are due back this Friday, 14 October. This trip is for any student in Years 9-11 in 2023. It will have a specific focus on Performing Arts and for students interested in and involved in the Singapore Collaboration project.

Secondary Sport
Weekly Sport
MISA Trials wrapped up this week and the selected students have now been notified. Congratulations to those students. All other students will complete College Sport for Term 4.
Year 9 and Year 10 students must complete their preferences for their elective sport by following the link in the email sent to them on Wednesday. Any student who does not select a sport by Friday, 14 October (today) will be placed into a group by Mr Goldsbrough.
Year 7 and Year 8 students will continue through Sports rotations - they have been notified of their sport for this term via email. Students who attend swimming are reminded to bring all of their gear so that they can participate.
With the weather warming up, all students are reminded that they should be bringing a water bottle and their hat to sport every week. Sunscreen is also encouraged.
CIS Athletics
On Tuesday, 20 September, the following students represented the College at CIS Athletics. Congratulations to these students who had some stellar performances on the day.
Brooks, Myles
Evans, Isabella
Garakasha, Tapiwa
Gitto, Jayde
Napier, Benjamin
Shafer, Emmett
All Schools Athletics
In the first week of the holidays, we had students represent the College at the All Schools Athletics. Congratulations to Benjamin Napier, Kaitlyn Williams, Myles Brooks.
The students had some great results. Most notably, Myles Brooks, who won the U13 high jump at the NSW All Schools championship at Homebush with a PB jump of 1.75m. He will now represent NSW in the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Adelaide in December. As he has finished in the top three, this also qualifies him to compete in the Australian Athletics Track and Field championship in early 2023. Congratulations Myles.
Medieval Fighting
Many of our College community were lucky enough to watch and chat with some of the Medieval Fighters at our recent Country Fair. Connor Miller, one of our HSC students, has won first place at the Australian Medieval Combat Federation for Under 75kg Men's Pro Fight. He will now have the opportunity to fight at the world championships next year after he competed in his first nationals fight in Leppington over the weekend.
He has been a squire for the Australian team several times and carried the Australian flag onto the list before each fight at the world championships. This is an excellent result for his first fight. His armour alone weighs almost 20kgs!
Congratulations Connor!
Club Sport Grand Final Champions
In our community, we have had a number of teams perform well in their respective clubs. One of those included a team of Year 10 and Year 12 WAC students who won their Grand Final in Soccer. Congratulations to the Hill Top Kookaburras.
Next week we welcome Mr Goldsbrough back from leave!

Kindergarten Farm Excursion
On Friday, 23 September, Kindergarten went on their first excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm in Abbotsbury. The students had the opportunity to explore how living things have different needs and how to care for them. At the farm, students engaged in hands-on activities with animals, such as milking a cow and petting nursery farmyard animals. Students also engaged in discussions about plant growth.
Though it was a wet day, Kindergarten students had a fantastic time.

Year 5 & 6 PDHPE Growth and Development Unit
This term, students in Years 5 & 6 will be looking at the growth and development of the human body. They will learn about the different body systems, the changes our bodies go through during puberty, why these happen, and health and safety as they grow older. When learning about puberty, students will be separated into girls' and boys' groups so they are more comfortable asking questions about these changes. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

PE Practical Lessons
Term 4 Secondary PE Practical Lessons
Years 7-10 Students will continue to wear their College Sports uniform to the College for PE lessons in Term 4. Due to timetable changes, the designated day for PE may have changed from last term, so students need to check the PE practical timetable closely. All students have been informed via email as to when they have their scheduled practical lesson (shown below) and the PE timetable has been posted on Edumate Broadcasts. Students still wear their Sports uniform for Sports on Tuesday. Students are to wear their white Sports Polo on their allocated day. Year 9 and Year 10 students who do Elective PASS need to bring their Sports uniform to College to get changed. If you have any questions please contact me.
