Message from the Headmaster
The last few weeks have been very busy and tiring for our students, staff and families; both physically and emotionally. We have enjoyed some great events and experienced some deeply sombre events. We are noticing that this tiredness often leads to some challenging behaviours amongst our students. Our Pastoral team is working closely with many students to ensure that they are well supported and also helping them to be accountable for their own behaviours. Emotional regulation is a challenging skill for many people; adults and children alike. Our goal in each situation is to help our students grow through these situations. Frequently, a consequence is unpleasant; no students like giving up their lunchtime to attend detention or being removed from class for a period of time. However, it is this consistent application of our College guidelines and behavioural expectations that helps every student to understand what is, and what isn't, acceptable. I would like to ask our parents to support us as we work with your children in guiding them into more mature (age appropriate of course) behaviours. A few ways that you can support us include:
- Check your child's diary (mostly upper Primary and Secondary students) and take note of any comments by teachers, or infringements that have been recorded (these are on pages 36-41). This may be an opportunity to reinforce the behavioural expectations that you have of your children.
- Ask your children about the expectations of the College. For example, "How do your teachers expect you to behave during class?" OR "What do you see other students getting in trouble for?" These may initiate further conversations that support your children to be their best.
- Finally, consider a conversation with your child about how the school prepares young people for life. These important formative years at school help to shape each person into the adult they are becoming.
I have a clear vision of young men and women who make positive contributions to their families, workplaces and communities and I feel so privileged to be partnering with our staff and families as we raise these next generations of young people together.

Congratulations to our IPSSO Champions!
Well done our Wollondilly Anglican College Champion Teams! We have three of our IPSSO teams finish the top of the ladder for the Winter Season. This is a great achievement and proves the sporting pedigree of Wollondilly students. - Well done to the following teams:
- Mrs Maher’s Senior Netball Team who finished in equal 1st with Oran Park Anglican College (OPAC). Bar a narrow loss to OPAC, the Senior Girls' Team were undefeated all Season.
- Mr Wayne’s dashing Junior Boys’ Soccer Team who remained undefeated all season. They finished outright on top of the ladder. The future of soccer at WAC looks very bright if the Junior Boys have anything to say about it!
- Mr Stark’s Junior AFL Team held off a tough St Greg’s to emerge outright 1st of their competition. Their last match was a do or die contest with St Greg’s that ended in the narrowest of 25-23 Wollondilly wins. Well done Junior Australian Rules Footballers!
Worthy Mention
- It went down to the line for the Senior AFL team who narrowly finished second overall to a mighty St Greg’s. The Wollondilly Senior Side was lacking their usual firepower and playing a few players short due to injury. The Senior AFL players will be keen to go one step further next year.

Country Fair Performances
On Saturday last weekend, we had approximately 150 students perform on the Main Stage under the Shoulder to Shoulder Shelter at the Country Fair. It was fantastic to see and experience the amazing gifts our students have at the College across all areas. We had students perform live within a variety of Music Groups/Ensembles, Dance Groups as well as some pre-recorded Drama and Dance videos and even the German Linguafest Competition entry by our amazing students in Year 7 and Year 8 German.
These performances and pre-recorded videos would not be possible without the dedicated staff who run these groups and ensembles and I want to personally thank these staff members for their commitment to the Performing Arts. I’d also like to thank the students who performed, including those who bravely took to the stage performing solo and to the committed WAC Crew members that assisted on the day.
WAC Talent Quest
This year, the WAC Talent Quest is going to feature a combination of live performances and pre-recorded auditions and performances, something we have seen over the last few years when we have been on Off-Campus Learning or affected by COVID restrictions.
These formats have meant we have featured some amazing talents that our College’s students have, that cannot be possible in just a live format on stage.
Mrs Barker and I have finalised the Talent Quest program and this will be featured in Broadcasts on Monday, and for the remainder of the week. We will also email the students that have made the finals and will either perform their act/performance live or have their pre-recorded entry played on the big screen under the Shoulder to Shoulder Shelter.
We are looking forward to who will be the next winner of the ‘Meerkat Trophy’.

Performing Arts Coordinator T-12
PDHPE - Health & Physical Education Day
On Friday, 9 September, Health and Physical Education (HPE) Day, endorsed by the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER), was recognised at the College. The theme of the day was “Take the Challenge”. Despite the inclement weather, it was a great day. To start the day, a healthy breakfast was made available, with granola/yoghurt and an array of fresh fruit. Year 9 Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) students participated in Wheelchair Basketball sessions at different times across the day. At Recess, a Beep Test Challenge was held, with a large number of participants spreading right across the “Shoulder to Shoulder” shelter. During Lunch, there was Table Tennis and Pickle Ball, where students challenged teachers and senior students. Whilst this was happening there was a Plank Challenge. Participation was high across all events, which was very encouraging. Prizes will be given during Monday morning assemblies in Week 8 and Week 9.
We look forward to a bigger and better day next year.

PDHPE Coordinator

Year 10 iSTEM Drones
Over the course of Term 3, students in the Year 10 iSTEM course have been learning how to program and control automated drones. As part of this task, they have to complete a series of missions in class. They have also created a "space station" which is used as an obstacle and landing area for the drones. The students have been working hard to understand the difficulties of programming a drone and have completed some very imaginative space station designs in class.

Equestrian News
Congratulations to Tahlia O'Reilly who competed and placed 1st at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre on her pony 'Rhythm' in preparation for the Interschool Competitions next term.

Transition (Pre-K) News
Henny Penny
This Term, the Transition students have been looking at farms and farm animals in our Science unit. We have been looking at a different farm animal each week. As part of this Science unit, we investigated chicken eggs and how they hatch.
We had the Henny Penny Egg Hatching Program come into Transition for two weeks which was very exciting for all the students. We have had a few chicks arrive already hatched as well as some eggs in an incubator. The students watched the eggs hatch and the chicks move into the cage once this had occurred. We learnt about how chicken eggs need heat and humid air to hatch in the incubator. We also learnt that the little chicks need warm light, food and water to survive once they have hatched.
The students loved watching the eggs crack open, learning about the processes and seeing the little chicks grow. They were lucky enough to have some gentle holds and pats on the last few days of the program. We had one of the lovely Transition families take all the chicks home, which was very exciting.
