WAC IPSSO Success

What a week for our College! I am incredibly proud to congratulate both our IPSSO Senior Football Team and our IPSSO Junior Football Team on their outstanding seasons.
Our Senior Boys' journey was truly remarkable, culminating in a win in their IPSSO Football Final. This victory marks a culmination of four years of hard work, as this team has remained undefeated throughout their time playing together. Their success is a testament to the incredible teamwork, resilience, and commitment they've shown. As their outstanding coach, Mr Darren Wayne, shared with me, the team's secret lies in their willingness to support each other, even when it meant playing out of position. They have faced tough games and come back from losing positions, demonstrating a grit and determination that is truly inspiring.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Mr Wayne for his exceptional leadership. His dedication, passion, and great care for his team are clear to see. Through his unwavering support and encouragement, he has been instrumental in the boys' success, both on and off the field.
I also want to acknowledge the impressive efforts of our Junior Boys' team. They played an excellent season, making it all the way to the final series. While they didn't take out the top prize on the day, their sportsmanship and determination were on full display.
The lessons learned on that football pitch are lessons for life. The ability to work hard together, to persevere through challenges, to support your teammates in victory and in defeat, are the very attributes that lead to great outcomes in all aspects of life. Whether it’s in academics, sports, leadership, or learning a new skill, true success is a team effort. The achievements of both our teams remind us that when we work together, support each other, and commit to a common goal, there is nothing we can't achieve. Well done, boys—your whole College community is celebrating with you!

College Headmaster

Primary Open Afternoon - Thursday, 25 September from 2.10 pm to 3.00 pm

Primary (Transition - Y6) parents are invited to come in and see the learning that has occurred over Term 3.
To assist with traffic congestion, we will have classrooms open from 2.10 pm - 3.00 pm. We encourage parents to park on the Ingham's ground which will be made available for this afternoon.
Students will remain in their classrooms until 2.25 pm, at this point they will be taken to normal dismissal points.
Parents may pick their children up as they visit classrooms (2.10 pm - 2.25 pm). We would ask that Kindergarten parents start at Kindergarten if they are choosing to visit before normal dismissal time.
Please note:
- All students will either be with parents, after school care or at bus lines by 2.45 pm.
- Teachers are happy to say a quick hello, it is not time for a parent teacher interview, if you wish to speak to your child's teacher, please email them for an appointment.
- Year 6 Joy will be at music so their open class will not start until 2.35 pm.
- Early sign out from 2.10 pm will not be necessary, class teachers will tick students off as parents pick them up before normal dismissal.
- Transition 3-Day parents will have the opportunity to drop in on Friday, 26 September.

Auf Deutsch Bitte!
The German Club, under the guidance of Frau Holmes, have been busy working on their entry to the MLTA Film Competition. The theme for this year's competition is The Magic Paintbrush.
Team members of the German Club have contributed to a script and have rehearsed and filmed their entry, which is all in German. They have given up numerous lunch times and are to be congratulated for their hard work. We look forward to hearing the results of the competition later this year.
Remember, "Monolingualism is curable. Learn another language!"

Musical Auditions
This week, we held a Musical Audition Information Afternoon for Secondary students. Please note that next year's Year 7 students will be able to join the cast in the new year. Musical Auditions will be taking place this coming Monday after normal College hours from 3.00 pm - 4.15 pm. Parents should have received a permission request and information note via the College App. All students who attended or expressed interest have also been added to our Canvas course, which contains tips for the audition process as well as the assigned script extract, song extract and choreography extract for use in auditions.

Country Fair Performances
At last weekend’s Country Fair, students participated in a wide range of performances and exhibitions, highlighting both their creativity and dedication. From musical and dance performances to the presentation of practical projects, the event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their diverse talents.
On the main stage, students presented an array of group and solo performances, including contributions from the College Strings, College Band, Cheerleading Squad, as well as various Choir and Dance ensembles. Beyond the stage, visitors were able to enjoy an impressive exhibition of student project work featuring Textiles, Visual Arts, Design and Technology, and Industrial Technology Timber.
Audiences across the Fair were deeply impressed by the skill, perseverance, and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students. We extend our sincere gratitude to all those who played a role in making these opportunities possible—whether through organising, mentoring, or generously volunteering their time throughout the weekend.

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance Graduation

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the graduation of three incredible students: Mackenzie Cook, Holley Dvorak, and Jessalyn Smiltnieks. It was a truly wonderful celebration of their hard work and dedication in completing their Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
It was inspiring to see them recognised for all the effort they put in, not only during term time but also with their holiday hospital placements. These placements provided them with invaluable real-world experience.
A special congratulations goes to Jessalyn Smiltnieks, who also received the Academic Excellence Award for her cohort in Bowral. Her commitment to her studies is a testament to her bright future.
Please join me in extending a huge congratulations to Mackenzie, Holley, and Jessalyn. I am incredibly proud of their achievements and can't wait to see what they accomplish next!

- 3rd Place: Torin Ford-McGuire Year 7
Book Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - Mikayla Frendo
Mystifying - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is an incredibly moving story made for anyone who feels they don't belong in society, anyone who feels a bit different.
This book follows the life of a teenage boy dealing with the death of his grandfather and the PTSD that follows. In an attempt to come to terms with his grief, Jacob travels to the island his grandfather grew up on in the hopes of uncovering the truth behind the mystical tale he was told about his grandfather's past.
As well as the engaging writing, the book also features a collection of real photos that further the reader-experience and create a whole new world based on, but unlike the one we know.
Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves mystery, adventure and a splash of fantasy.
The Year 3-6 Book Week Competitions have ended, and the winners will be announced in Week 9.
