Secondary Presentation & Showcase Morning

On Thursday, we held our Annual Secondary Presentation and Showcase Celebration. Seeing so many students stepping up on stage to be recognised for their hard work throughout the year was a great encouragement. We celebrated our Sports men and women, our Creative & Performing Arts students, our Student Leaders and our academic achievers. This event is a recognition of the diligence, commitment and perseverance of our students across many different areas. I would like to thank our parents for their ongoing support of the College and for encouraging your children to be involved in the many opportunities available to them. I always enjoy seeing our students performing at our various events and yesterday's performances were fantastic.
I am looking forward to our Primary Presentation and Showcase next week and I hope to see many of you there.
Mr Trevor Norman
College Headmaster

PDHPE: Year 8 Beach Safety Day

On Friday, 29 November, Year 8 travelled to Sandon Point (Bulli, North of Wollongong) to engage in beach safety activities led by Surf Education Australia. The excursion complimented the “Summer Fun” unit they have been completing this term in PDHPE. Students were able to see, first-hand, the risks associated with coastal environments. As students engaged in practical sessions they learnt how to identify rips and other hazards, take precautions when faced with hazards, enter and exit the surf safely, stay calm and float, swim safely in the surf (eg catching waves), negotiate water-craft in the surf (eg surfboard) and developing a beach safety plan. Although the day was overcast with a light drizzle, it was a great day.

PDHPE - Child Studies Picnic & Other Activities

On Monday afternoon, students from Year 9 Child Studies took the RealCare Baby simulators out for a picnic. Students had the opportunity to put into practice what they learned during the Term 4 unit on Newborn Care. They experienced a glimpse of the challenges new parents face when navigating public spaces, such as shopping centres and parks while caring for a newborn. The RealCare Babies are designed to simulate the realities of newborn care. The class was tasked with ensuring the babies were fed, burped, soothed and had their nappies changed at regular intervals—all while responding to realistic crying sounds, providing head support and maintaining proper body temperature regulation.
This semester, the Child Studies class have also been working with both Transition and Kindergarten students in Early Stage 1 to deepen their understanding of key growth and developmental milestones in children. This collaboration culminated in Child Studies students planning and running activities that promote physical, cognitive and social development. Throughout this process, the Year 9 students have grown significantly in their confidence and skill when working with younger students.
Additionally, the class had the privilege of hearing from new mothers this term. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs Barnes and Eleanor, Mrs Gooden and Pippa and Mrs Hamden and Guinevere for their generosity in spending time with the class and sharing their personal experiences of motherhood.
Mrs Ella McCan
PDHPE Teacher

Primary Christmas Chapel

The College Learner Disposition focus for Term 4 is Reflective. This is a habit that we are working on developing and cultivating in our students.
Can you believe it, Christmas is almost here! Christmas is a time that we get to be reminded of the reason for the season, the best gift ever, the Lord Jesus.
We'll be celebrating again this year at our Primary Christmas Chapel and I'd love to extend an invitation to all parents and families to join us. It's a great time to reflect on the year together and most importantly, celebrate Jesus. This year, our Primary Christmas Chapel is on Thursday, 12 December from 8.35 am under the Shoulder-to-Shoulder Shelter.
Any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me at m.roberts@wac.nsw.edu.au.
The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Luke 2:11
