    Primary News

See It, Say It, Stop It
Today saw the Primary launch of Wollondilly Students - See It, Say It, Stop It! This simply means when we see any sort of problem we say something about it and in doing this, we can stop it. We identified that problems can be small or big (ant or elephant). If a problem is a small problem then we can say something to the person ourselves. For example, if someone leaves rubbish behind, we can politely tell them to pick it up. If someone tells another student they can't play, we can tell them it's not very nice and ask that person to play with us instead. For a big problem, we should say it to an adult. An example of this might be someone hurting another student, or someone being mean and not stopping when asked. We discussed that we should be people who stand up for what is right and good. This can take courage. At Wollondilly, we do not use the term snitch or dobber when someone stands up against something wrong. Throughout history, there are examples of people who stood up for good and made a difference.

Students were presented with badges, the teachers developed films of examples and Stage 3 created and shared a song with Primary. The positive nature of this launch is one we plan to build on for the remainder of the year in lessons and in general interactions. In the new year, we will again remind students to See it, Say it, Stop it!

This will be our language. Wollondilly students are students who stand up for good, who See it, Say it, Stop it! We are not bystanders, we are brave and courageous. We make a difference.

    Children Left Unsupervised In Cars

We appreciate that life can be busy and complicated but we ask that you do not leave children unsupervised in motor vehicles whilst parked in the College. Children left on their own in a car or other vehicle are in danger of:

    • heat stress and dehydration - parked cars can heat up fast, even with the windows down
    • burns from hot seatbelts and vinyl fittings
    • playing with car controls such as hand brakes, gear levers, power windows and the ignition
    • car thieves
    • Legally, you should not leave a child or young person unsupervised in a car

Please help us with this as we work together to keep our College community safe.

    MADDDD Night 2024 - Wednesday, 20 November

The theme of this year's Music, Art, Dance, Drama, Deutsch and Design Night (MADDDD Night) is Pure Imagination, and we have some exciting performances and displays to share with you. All students from elective Creative Arts and Languages and Year 10 Textiles have been working towards this event in classes.

This year's MADDDD Night is set to be held on Wednesday, 20 November 2024 in the Warne Auditorium. The event will commence at 5.00 pm. It is anticipated that the event will conclude by 8.00 pm.

All students from Year 9-11 elective Music, Art, Dance, Drama and German, along with Year 10 Textiles, will be performing or exhibiting. They will be joined by a few selected Year 7 & 8 performers and other students who are helping as curators, models and crew. Work from our Year 7 & 8 students completed in Visual Arts, German and Music will also be on display.

Performers, curators, models and crew will remain at the College after the normal College day to complete final preparations and will be supervised by their teachers. Parents will receive a permission note for this activity shortly and we ask that you respond to it promptly to assist us with planning. Students whose work is purely on display/exhibition do not need to stay after hours and are encouraged to come along for the commencement of the event at 5.00 pm.

Students involved are to bring any props/costumes or materials required to the College on the day, as well as afternoon tea.

    Thriving Together with ADHD Workshops

Community Links Wellbeing and Brief Therapy Solutions have come together to develop and implement a program to assist parents in the Camden LGA with children displaying traits of ADHD, or diagnosed with ADHD and not receiving NDIS.

Many parents fall through the cracks for support when it comes to this area and are on long waitlists to see specialised services and receive support, often struggling with parenting their ADHD child and their behaviours due to the immense stress they are experiencing.

Parents know their children best and it is our aim to raise further awareness on the topic by providing parents with some general support through education and some strategies (where possible) to help maintain their needs and support family connections whist they wait to see their specialist/practitioner.

Each workshop will allow opportunity for parents and carers to present their questions to the speaker/s either on the booking form or at the session

The workshops will run each Thursday, 24th October 2024 to 28th November 2024. The location is proposed for Julia Reserve at Oran Park

We currently have the following workshop speakers:

    • 21/11/2024 ADHD in the Family Context by Dr Steve Walker- Brief Therapy Solutions
    • 28/11/2024 Understanding the relationship between ADHD and Eating Habits by Fofe Vrettos APD MNutri & Diet BSC (Nutr) Bowral Nutrition
